Dr Larijweg's stewing pears have been sold to enthusiasts since the 1930s. First, the municipal workers harvested the pears, nowadays people have to pick them themselves! (or shake and pick) This can be done after buying a tree by auction from the auctioneer. He starts at 9 o'clock in the morning at Dokter Larijweg 1 and during the day he walks the entire Dr. Larijweg (7 kilometres!) to auction all the trees. And there are a lot of them! Some 1,200 trees, all tall stemmed cooking pears of old varieties.

There is a separate pear auction for children. It starts at 9.00 am on Doctor Larijweg on the Ruinen side ( approximately at house number 172). Children will learn how an auction works and get to bid for a tree themselves. And what could be better than picking your self-bought pears off the tree yourself?
Also on this day is the Stoofperenfeest along Doctor Larijweg; A number of farmyards have small markets with mainly rural and home-made products. There is a special children's yard for children, with all kinds of fun activities and games. Between the yards, a "Back and Peer", covered wagon rides, which can be used for a small fee. The Stoofperenfeest is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
