Thursday Meppel Day

The Thursday Meppel Days 2026 are coming up! This summer, the centre of Meppel will again be filled with music, entertainment, fairs and fun on five Thursdays. Every year, the Thursday Meppel Days - better known as DMD Meppel - attract thousands of visitors from all over the Netherlands and have grown into one of the biggest summer events in Drenthe.

These are the themes of DMD Meppel 2026:

16 July - Meppel Moves
23 July - Farmers' Day
30 July - Street Theatre Festival
6 August - Mokum in Meppel
13 August - Meppel Dance Event + Parade

During the Thursday Meppel Days, Meppel city centre turns into one big festival site with:

• live music on various squares, market organ concert in the Maria Church
• Fair and market stalls
• food trucks and terraces
• street theatre and entertainment
• Children's activities such as the children's flea market and family fun

The final Thursday Meppel Day is traditionally concluded in the evening with a parade of floats and advertising vehicles of companies and associations from Meppel and the surrounding area with various marching bands and a show band.
