Farmlands

Besides national parks, the region is characterised by a still very authentic farming landscape.
In several places, time has stood still and you can still clearly see how people lived and farmed years ago. From hay fields, to ash trees and wooded banks.
From a 7-kilometre-long pear avenue to the rich manor houses of 't Gouden Endje'.

Highlights Farmlands - You really must have seen or done this

  • Doctor Larijweg - Ruinerwold

Dokter Larijweg in Ruinerwold is a well-known and attractive avenue, thanks to the many (over 1,000!) pear trees along the road. In spring the blossoms create a beautiful picture and in autumn the trees are full of pears, giving the road a typically rural character.
Be sure to visit the annual stewing pear festival in October; on that weekend the pears are auctioned in a playful way.
