12th Midwinter Horn Walking Tour

On 29 November 2026, the first Sunday of Advent and the start of the De Ekelbloazers’ horn-blowing season, you will, as is traditional, have the opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy the midwinter horns. We will once again be using the existing walking route around Zuidwolde called‘Het Vlinderommetje’.

This route is approximately 10 km long and starts from Café Zalencentrum Den Kaat. The route has been organised by the Zuidwolde Nature Society. This society is also helping to organise the event and is making its Buningshof – the Nature Society’s new premises – available specifically as a central meeting point along the route. From around 11.00 am until at least 2.00 pm, the midwinter horn players will be stationed along the route.

The Butterfly Walk officially starts at the Butterfly Garden and passes through an ecologically managed landscape park to small-scale meadow and woodland areas. It then continues through the historic ash tree landscape of Steenbergen to the Faliebergbos and back to the Butterfly Garden. You can, of course, also walk just part of the route. A route has also been marked out for people with reduced mobility.
