Boundless is located in a unique piece of culture/nature. Before you start your hike or bike ride, it is highly recommended to come and have a look at our visitor centre. From here, you can head into the area with a suitcase full of stories.
This space puts different places, all with their own history, under a magnifying glass. Doldersum is the perfect starting and ending point to explore both the Koloniën van Weldadigheid, the Drents-Friese Wold, Veenhuizen and Noordwolde.
In the shop (near the visitor centre), various products are for sale. Regional products, non-food products and books linked to the hidden stories.
Some of the stories displayed there are:
- The Urnfield
- The Cart Trail
- Elsjen Roelofs

The visitor centre also tells the story of Cornelis the Bird. Cornelis the bird was born on the Zeeland island of Tholen in 1813. At the age of 6, he was orphaned. In 1824, he was transported to the Colonies of Weldadigheid. He became a cow guard.
Cornelis was only 1.48 metres tall, probably because of this he was excluded from military service. He died at the age of 37. Just before the birth of his 4th child.
While realising the visitor centre, Hellen found out that Cornelis was her great-great-grandfather. A strange sensation.
Boundless, in collaboration with brewery Maallust, has developed a beer inspired by this story. The working orphan. A hoppy high fermentation blonde beer. Read the whole story in the visitor centre and then come and taste the beer in our restaurant.
