Tourist Info Point Havelte

A Tourist Info Punt offers services and information to tourists about, for example, local attractions, sights, museums, sports and recreational facilities and events and activities. You can come to us for maps, guides and brochures with information about the area's culture, history and traditions. We also offer (junction) maps, cycling, hiking and horse riding routes. Some of these resources are translated into German. Our staff will be happy to give you tips on the best restaurants and a nice overnight stay at a nearby hotel, bungalow, bed and breakfast or campsite.

Tourist Info Point Havelte
Tourist Info Point Havelte is located at Access Gate Holtingerveld, the entrance to the nature reserve formed by ice and war. Here you can get walking maps, cycling routes and, of course, tips for discovering the special places in the area, such as the megalithic tombs and the sheepfold. You can use the toilet and free parking.

Experience routes
Various experience routes such as the gnome trail, the mammoth trail and the patch trail start from the Tourist Info Point. The gnome trail is a fun 1.6-kilometre experience route for small children. For very small gnome legs, there is an 850-metre round trip. Get a gnome hat and a bucket at the Tourist Info Point and set off. The mammoth trail is a 2.7 km treasure hunt for slightly older children. Get a pouch and mammoth track clothes at the Tourist Info Punteen and follow the trail of Moeno the mammoth. Or walk the patches trail with sound clips via an app.

Share bikes

Both at Access Gate Holtingerveld in Havelte and at PUUR/TIP in Diever, you can use a share bike. These shared bicycles are located in the so-called "hubs" placed at the aforementioned places.

The share bike can be rented via a digital booking platform and is intended for both tourists and residents.

Offering these shared bicycles (e-bikes) should contribute to:

o Increasing the choices of partial transport

o Promoting visits to the area's attractions

o Promoting sustainable transport

Via an app on the phone, the shared bike can be activated and the duration of use is tracked. The bike can then be placed and logged off at another "hub".

In this way, public transport can be used in an easy and sustainable way at any time of the day. The cost for this transport option is currently €0.75 per quarter of an hour.

It uses the platform of Deelfiets Nederland.

In Steenwijkerland, this project has been running since last July and such "hubs" have been placed in a number of towns.

Steenwijkerland and Westerveld are the first two municipalities in the Netherlands to launch such a project.
