Additional info

The green route takes you past the ice-age 'blowhole' the Trekgat, which is now a beautiful lake. Berghuizen gets its name from the undulations in the landscape created in the ice age, the bladder bowl was named Trekgat because the peat that had first grown in the bladder bowl was pulled out to be used as fuel. From the church, you follow the historic 'Dodiek', the unpaved old path that runs from church to church, over which the dead used to be carried. From the Dodiek you make a ford to the Wold Aa, walking through a grove where you may encounter very gnomes. It then goes back through the vast 'stroke landscape' - with long plots of land - and along the river Wold Aa.

You can enjoy this route throughout the season. You go along the 'Dodiek', a well-preserved path from days gone by. After this beautiful old path you cross over to the 'Wold Aa', an important waterway in this area. At the ford, you pass through a grove that local residents have decorated as a Gnome Forest, great fun for children!
