The Randje Drenthe Route 4 Zuidwolde starts and ends at Cafetaria Het Busstation in the centre of Zuidwolde. The route is 66 km long and passes through Alteveer, Kerkenveld, Elim, Dalerpeel, Coevorden, Zwinderen, Geesbrug, Tiendeveen, Hoogeveen, Fluitenberg and Echten before returning to Zuidwolde.

Former Geesbrug Labour Camp
During the Second World War, the Germans housed Jewish forced labourers here. They were made to work on land reclamation, in agriculture and on the embankments of the Coevorden–Zwinderen canal.

This region is described on old maps as Siberia. The area probably got that name in the French era, as it was remote and deserted.

Roekpad | Play forest and experience trail
In Echten is the experience trail the Roekpad. The Roekpad runs through the Kraaienbosch and parking is available near Visio Echten.
Huize Echten
Huize Echten is a historic manor house with roots in the Middle Ages. The house was inhabited by the Van Echten family, descended from the Van Coevorden family from the early 13th century. This noble background gave the house an important position within the region.

- Coevorden
Coevorden (the town centre is slightly off the route) is a town with a rich history and is definitely worth a visit. You’ll find many historic buildings there, most of which date from just after 1592. In that year, Prince Maurits liberated the town from the Spanish, who had been besieging it for eleven years. Unfortunately, the Spanish then set the entire town alight, and virtually all buildings from before that time were lost. Part of the historic centre has remained intact since then, and new buildings have been spectacularly integrated into it. The most imposing building on the market square is the Hofpoort Theatre, which also serves as the town hall. At the rear, you’ll find a footbridge leading to Coevorden Castle, which now serves as a hotel and restaurant. This castle dates back to the eleventh century but was rebuilt in the 16th century. - Other attractions in the town include Ganzen Geesje, the Reformed Church, the Arend corn mill, the Coevorden Municipal Museum (housed in some beautiful old warehouses) and Plopsa Indoor Coevorden.
